West Lothian Council to grant planning permission for Livingston development?
Land Securities has been advised of West Lothian Council's resolution to grant outline planning permission for its £90 million expansion of Livingston town centre following a period of public consultation. The proposals, which detail a mixed-use development to extend the retail space and create a new heart for the town, went through unopposed.
As a standard procedure, this resolution to grant outline planning permission will now be referred to the Scottish Executive for consideration. The development team is hopeful of a favourable outcome as the application is in line with national planning policy, which requires all new retail and leisure developments to take place in existing town centres, as well as the finalised Edinburgh & Lothian's Structure Plan, which outlines the need for provision of new homes in the area.
