Knight Property Group in Aberdeen deal with Eurocopter

North East commercial property developer Knight Property Group have concluded a deal with Oxford based Eurocopter UK Limited for a purpose-built service & simulator facility at Kirkhill Commercial Park in Dyce.

Eurocopter is the largest manufacturer of helicopters in the world. With more than 10,000 helicopters currently in service and over 2,800 customers in 140 countries, Eurocopter offers the largest civil and military helicopter range in the world. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Eurocopter/EADS Group.

In July of this year, Eurocopter announced that national expansion would see them launching a service platform in Aberdeen to serve the oil and gas industry. This facility - which will be designed and built by Knight Property Group - will house the firm's first UK-based EC225 Flight Training Device and will bring a number of industry-leading facilities to the city in keeping with market demand from the region.

This facility will comprise 5,000 sq ft offices, 10,000 sq ft logistics warehouse, 5,360 sq ft of flight simulator accommodation, and a 8,450 sq ft yard. Occupying site three - which totals 1.2 acres - at Knight Property Group's Kirkhill Commercial Park, Eurocopter UK will be joined by neighbouring businesses Bristow Helicopters Ltd and Coates Offshore with 4.50 acres remaining for development.

Kirkhill Commercial Park is a 14 acre development located in commercial hub Dyce, Aberdeen. Adjacent to Aberdeen Airport, this site benefits from excellent transport links to the city and north east area. Occupiers in close vicinity to the site include international industry giants BP, Wood Group, Weatherford, Baker Hughes, Kvaerner and Halliburton.

Howard Crawshaw, director for Knight Property Group, said: "This past year has seen Knight Property Group specialising in the design and construction of the major helicopter training centers that will serve the local energy sector. We have had a fantastic opportunity to work with industry's leading lights and this is capitalised by our recent commission from Eurocopter UK. This has presented a showcase for the excellent work undertaken by our team of project managers and designers and this latest contract is testament to their hard work and expertise."

Markus Steinke, Managing Director of Eurocopter UK commented: "The new Aberdeen facility we are building will support the latest high quality support services for the demanding off shore helicopter market. Getting this kind of project completed fast and to very exacting standards is crucial. On completion Aberdeen will have world class facilities."
