Jonathon Porritt headlines at Burnley's Elevate event
Burnley will host Elevate's Sustainable Construction conference in September where eminent writer and broadcaster Jonathon Porritt will speak about sustainable development.
Jonathon is a renowned commentator on this subject and will be sharing his knowledge and experiences with companies and individuals involved in East Lancashire's multi-million pound regeneration programme.
Elevate, the housing market renewal pathfinder, is running the "Constructing the Sustainable Way" conference on Thursday 7 September at Burnley Football Club, Turf Moor, to promote best practice in sustainable construction in East Lancashire and beyond.
Contractors, suppliers, developers and local authorities are expected to take part, to learn from national and regional experts in the field what it takes to inject new life into local communities and create homes and neighbourhoods that are good for the next 100 years. They will choose from a variety of interactive workshops on topics ranging from heritage and recycled materials to renewable energy and 'greening' the community.
Elevate's Chief Executive Max Steinberg, who will be speaking at the event, said: "Housing market renewal is about more than just bricks and mortar: we are working to build sustainable communities. This is central to our strategy and programmes. With the right policies and actions, we can minimise the impact on the environment and help improve the quality of life for residents and their neighbours."
