Gladman Developments £14m Chester-le-Street development completed
National commercial property consultancy, Lambert Smith Hampton (LSH) has issued practical completion on Gladman Developments' new £14 million distribution centre at the Drum Industrial Estate in Chester-le-Street, County Durham.
Acting as Independent Surveyor, LSH's Newcastle office has been instrumental in driving the scheme towards the conclusion of the build programme, serving as an independent intermediary on behalf of Cheshire-based developer Gladman.
Fit out of the 271,000 sq ft unit, which was pre-let to supermarket giant, the Co-op in the region's largest industrial pre-let of the past 10 years, is at an advanced stage, with the Co-op taking occupancy in April.
Julian Smith, Head of Building Consultancy at LSH's Newcastle office, said: "This was a substantial development project which, despite having to overcome many challenges, was completed on time and within budget."
Simon Lovell, Partner at Gladman said: "We are delighted that this ground-breaking scheme has come to fruition, completing over 600,000 sq ft of industrial space at Drum. The success of the development is as a direct result of the expert team that has been involved with the project over the past two to three years."
