Durham Gate developers appoint property veteran to the project

The developers behind the Durham Gate site in County Durham have appointed experienced property industry veteran Ian Beaumont to drive the project forward.

The Carillion Arlington Real Estate (CARE) Partnership has appointed Ian as its new project director, focussed on the delivery of the plans passed by Sedgefield Borough Council earlier this year.

Ian, who has more than 20 years' experience in the industry will be responsible for ensuring the site is developed to the highest possible standards and handed over to happy tenants.

Durham Gate, which lies on the A167, five miles south of Durham City on the outskirts of Spennymoor, has planning permission to construct 440,000 ft² of offices, a hotel and family pub, 20,000 ft² of restaurant accommodation, 9,500 ft² of retail and 376 houses.

Ian's experience of mixed use developments is extensive. In his last post as a projects developer, he oversaw a development in the Midlands which comprised hotel, casino and residential units; another project included office, healthcare and hotel facilities.

Previous employers include most recently Deeley Properties and Rose Project Services, and Balfour Beatty Building's Northern Division, where he started out his career in the late 1980s.

Ian said: "Durham Gate is a brilliant destination and a fantastic opportunity for me to be at the centre of breathing life into this area. With the excellent transport links and the fact that we will be able to deliver bespoke headquarter units with a range of facilities on site, the offering we have here is an outstanding prospect for any business."
