King Sturge to advise Thomas Cook

King Sturge has been appointed by Thomas Cook UK & Ireland as its principal property consultant to provide lease consultancy and agency advice for the UK retail portfolio, together with a property management service. A building consultancy service will also be provided as and when required.

King Sturge was successful following a re-tendering process initiated by Thomas Cook UK in December and involving a number of the UK's major property consultancies. The contract is expected to commence with effect from 1st March 2008.

Ken Frew, Scottish Building Consultancy Partner, said: "We are delighted to have been selected by Thomas Cook UK & Ireland. We are well acquainted with the business, having recently acquired the Leslie Furness business, which had advised Thomas Cook for the past nine years. Together with our new colleagues from Leslie Furness, King Sturge is able to deliver a full range of services across the UK which is a key consideration for our new client."

Andrew Potter, Head of Estates at Thomas Cook UK & Ireland, commented: "Following an in-depth review of potential service providers, we have awarded the contract to King Sturge as we believe they offer the right balance of expertise and coverage to assist us with the efficient management of our property estate."

Thomas Cook operates circa 812 retail units including 120 bureaus de change across the UK and throughout Ireland.
