MacRoberts to relocate to Glasgow's financial district
MacRoberts LLP, one of Scotland's leading law firms, is to become the first tenant at Wilson Bowden's Capella Building at Atlantic Quay in the heart of Glasgow's International Financial Services District (IFSD).
In a major boost for the city's commercial property sector and the IFSD, the commercial law firm will relocate to Capella from its existing Glasgow premises at 152 Bath Street, by the end of 2009 and will occupy four floors, covering more than 33,500 square feet.
At 113,122 sq ft (10,510 sq m) the 11-storey, £35 million Capella development is set for completion in August this year and will be the tallest office building on the Broomielaw. In addition to 108,000 square feet of prime office space, the building's ground floor will house 3,000 sq ft of retail and leisure space.
Capella will form the centrepiece of Atlantic Quay and the retail and leisure development will further expand the services available on the waterfront, adding to the growing number of restaurants, hotels and shops on offer in the district. More than 12,000 people now work in the Broomielaw area.

Councillor George Ryan, Executive Member for Development and Regeneration at Glasgow City Council, added: "The great news that such an established firm are moving into this new building in the heart of Glasgow's business quarter is another vote of confidence in Glasgow and the wider International Financial Services District Area. Such a move reinforces the message that significant development continues in Glasgow and that the city is very much open for business."
The Capella development also includes the creation of a new public square and further enhancement of the public realm works which continued the 'constellation' theme that has been used throughout the streetscape in the Atlantic Quay area. Capella is the brightest star in the constellation Auriga and the eleventh brightest star in the sky.
